Beyond the Finish Line: Three Belize Races That Make Every Mile Matter

There are plenty of reasons to visit Belize; its warm Caribbean waters, lush rainforests, diverse culture, and incredible wildlife are just the beginning. But for those who love to travel with purpose, there’s another reason to lace up their running shoes.

Throughout the year, The Belize Collection hosts and sponsors races that go beyond medals and finish lines. Each event brings together locals and visitors in support of causes that help preserve the country’s natural beauty, invest in future generations, and strengthen local communities. As a proud sponsor of these meaningful events, The Belize Collection is honored to stand alongside organizations that are creating lasting change, one mile at a time

Running to Protect Belize’s Wildlife

Belize is one of the few places in the world where wildlife still thrives in protected areas. Conserving these ecosystems takes dedication, education, and community involvement, which is exactly what two of Belize’s most inspiring races help support.

Every October, the Croc Run in Placencia brings the community together in support of crocodile conservation. Hosted by the Crocodile Research Coalition (CRC), the event raises funds for research, education, and the organization’s Next Gen Croc Youth Program. As an annual sponsor, Umaya Resort & Adventures is proud to support this meaningful initiative, helping participants from half marathon runners to families taking part in the 5K contribute to protecting Belize’s wildlife while promoting conservation through education and community involvement.

Then in November, the Roaring Run for Jaguars celebrates International Jaguar Day while raising funds for the Belize Zoo’s Human Jaguar Conflict Program. The Belize Collection is proud to return as the event’s title sponsor for the second consecutive year, supporting efforts to reduce conflicts between people and jaguars through community outreach and education. Every registration helps protect one of Belize’s most iconic species while ensuring jaguars continue to thrive in the country’s forests for generations to come.

Investing in Belize’s Future

Some races leave behind more than footprints, they leave a lasting impact on the communities they serve.

The End of the World Marathon has become a beloved Belize tradition, bringing runners together to support the Placencia Rotary Club High School Scholarship Program. Every registration helps provide educational opportunities for Belizean students pursuing their academic goals. As a proud sponsor, Umaya Resort & Adventures has supported the event year after year by hosting a water station, and this year Blue Reef Beach Resort will join the effort as an additional water station. It’s a simple but meaningful way to support both the runners and a cause that continues to make a difference long after the finish line.

More Than a Race Weekend

Before the race, wake up to a sunrise and soak in the beauty of Belize as you prepare for the starting line. Afterward, celebrate your accomplishment by unwinding at one of The Belize Collection’s resorts, Umaya Resort & Adventures, or Blue Reef Beach Resort. Whether you’re a runner or a supporter cheering from the sidelines, you can relax on the beach, enjoy fresh local cuisine, explore the properties, and turn race weekend into an unforgettable Belize getaway.

At The Belize Collection, we’re proud to support events that strengthen communities, protect Belize’s incredible wildlife, and invest in future generations. We look forward to welcoming runners and supporters alike, because in Belize, the most meaningful finish lines are the ones that create a lasting impact.
